Welcome to Oak Park United Methodist Church (UMC)! Thanks for checking us out!
We are a community nestled in the heart of the Oak Park Community. Oak Park UMC opened in 1960 and fifty years later we are exploring what God has in store for the next phase of our lives. We, like many other United Methodist churches, we are discovering what it means to be a disciple. Our denomination mission statement is “to make disciples for the transformation of the world.”
It is important to us that we try our best to embody what it means to live a Christian life. We are a congregation on a journey to understand more about ourselves, God, and our neighborhoods, so that we can better serve God and our neighbors. One of the toughest challenges, we have on our Christian walk is when Jesus instructed us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor has yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40
This becomes such a challenging instruction because we find our days filled. Life is busy with work, kids, and all sorts of activities. At Oak Park UMC, we value simplicity, authenticity, prayer, and worship. The best way to connect with our community is through worship and small groups. Each Sunday we come together to worship at 10am to uncover another layer of what it means to live a Christian life. Both of our worship services focus on worshipping God through song, prayer, and scripture. Our 10am service is a traditional service with liturgy and hymns. Check out our other pages to learn more about our community.
We’d love to meet you in person and hope to see you Sunday!
